Temporary accommodation
Wolverhampton Homes delivers the temporary accommodation service on behalf of the City of Wolverhampton Council (CWC) and works to reduce the number of placements out of borough, which is a key council aim. We co-operate with the council’s strategic housing function to meet statutory duties, including homelessness.
-
What the team does
The Temporary Accommodation Placement team organises placements into temporary accommodation and moves between different forms of temporary accommodation. It also liaises with temporary accommodation providers to plan the placements.
-
How this benefits customers
The team plays a crucial role in addressing the immediate housing needs of vulnerable individuals and families in Wolverhampton.
-
What customers can expect
Customers receive confirmation of the details of their temporary accommodation placement on the same day the booking is made.
-
How we measure success
The team looks at:
- the total number of people in temporary accommodation
- the average time people spend in temporary accommodation before they are rehoused
- the length of time families are placed in hotels
- the number of people who are placed in temporary accommodation outside Wolverhampton
- the cost of temporary accommodation units
-
How we continue to improve
The team is continuously looking for more affordable, better quality temporary accommodation. It also seeks to make the administration of temporary accommodation more efficient so that customers are better provided for and supported.
