Selling your property
Before selling your property, you should know:
- if you sell your property within the first five years of the original 'right to buy' sale date, you will have to pay back some of your right to buy discount. How much you pay back will depend on how soon after the original sale date you sell the property
- if you sell your property within the first ten years of the original right to buy sale date, you should ask the City of Wolverhampton Council whether they wish to buy the property back before advertising it on the open market.

If you sell your property on the open market, the new owner’s solicitor must tell us within 28 days of the sale by sending a formal Notice of Assignment to Wolverhampton Homes. Without the notice, we are unable to update our records and you will still be liable for all service charges associated with the property.
There is a fee of £40 for processing the Notice of Assignment. Payment should be made by bank transfer to:

Once the payment has been made, the assignment documents should be uploaded through our contact us form. Please highlight 'leaseholders' as the reason for your query.
Pre-sale pack
Before selling your property, we recommend you have a pre-sale pack. It is common for solicitors to request the pack on behalf of their clients. The pack will contain lots of useful information that a potential buyer will want to know, such as:
- three years’ service charge accounts
- details of any money owing
- information about the buildings insurance policy
- details of planned major works and improvements
- other relevant information
There is a fee of £75 for a pre-sale pack. Payment should be made by bank transfer to:
