Building works update

  • Brockfield House

Most of the internal work is finished. We are now adding finishing touches and decorating.

  • Campion House

Internal works are progressing, such as the new heating system, windows and sprinklers.

  • Hawthorn House

This is the last block in the project. Customers are awaiting major internal work to be completed. This will include the heating, windows and new hallway ceiling. We are scheduling pipe boxing. Most homes now have new sprinkler systems fitted.

  • Lincoln House

Work has restarted. The Resident Liaison Officer is booking in ceiling installations for the hallways. Once installed, the new ceilings will be decorated. Scaffolding is coming down, and electrical work is being completed in the communal areas. New communal fire doors are in place, and fresh flooring has been added to the landings.

  • Ling House

Scaffolding is going up outside. Once finished, we will start replacing windows, followed by external wall insulation. Customers now have new sprinkler and heating systems.

  • Red Oak House

New windows are installed on most floors, except where scaffolding is in the way. Sprinklers are in place. We are also fitting extractor fans and carrying out electrical work in preparation for the new ceiling installation. New flooring for communal landings is coming soon, as are communal windows. The communal fire doors have been replaced.

  • Tremont House

Most of the internal work is finished, including the new intercom installation. Hallway ceilings are installed in most homes, but some still need electrical work. Scaffolding is coming down, and the work here is nearly completed.

Other news

  • Addressing anti-social behaviour in Heath Town

Following a recent spate of graffiti in the Heath Town flat blocks, Wolverhampton Homes colleagues were able to identify those responsible. Our Anti-social Behaviour Officer is now supporting the individuals to review and change their behaviour.

Additionally, there have been fewer young people gathering in the communal areas of the Hobgate Road flats. Many professionals have worked with these individuals making a positive impact in the community.

  • Fire Safety team praised for work at Heath Town

Our Fire Safety team - Lawrence Nelson (Fire Safety Officer), Georgina Homer and Marie Shelley (Fire Safety Advisors) - received praise from the City Housing Oversight Panel for their work at Heath Town. The panel commended their responsiveness and strong presence around the estate.

  • Taking action against exploitation in our community

In February, Wolverhampton County Court granted injunctions against two people who were convicted of taking advantage of vulnerable residents across the city. These individuals took over people's homes and used them for illegal activity - a practice known as 'cuckooing'. This led to more anti-social behaviour, affecting both victims and the wider community.

Thanks to several organisations working in partnership across the city - including the Police, the Council's Exploitation team, Legal services, Wolverhampton Homes - and support from residents, these individuals have now been stopped.

It was reported that over the past 14 months, 12 victims have been identified. By working together, we have taken action to support those affected and continue to work towards making our neighbourhoods safer.

Please remember, these are isolated incidents involving a small number of people. If you are worried about someone who may be vulnerable, please do not hesitate to contact us by using the button below.
