Wolverhampton Homes is asking for the views of people living and working in the city on how anti-social behaviour (ASB) is dealt with.

The draft policy outlines how reports of anti-social behaviour are addressed across the city and aims to ensure a more effective response to the needs of those affected by ASB. As part of its commitment to continuous improvement, Wolverhampton Homes is seeking public feedback before the policy is finalised.

Angela Barnes, Director of Homes and Communities at Wolverhampton Homes, said: “Anti-social behaviour can cause significant distress and we are committed to tackling it promptly and appropriately, using the full range of tools and legal powers available to us.”

“Early intervention and strong partnerships also play a key role in helping to tackle anti-social behaviour and these run as key themes through the draft policy.

“It is vital that we engage with the public as widely as possible to ensure our approach reflects the needs of the community. We strongly encourage anyone affected by ASB or who has opinions on the approach outlined in the draft policy to share their feedback via the survey.”

A key change proposed in the updated policy is a harm-centred approach, which prioritises considering the impact of ASB on victims throughout the case management process. By taking this approach, reports of ASB can be looked at both by the type of behaviour itself and the impact that behaviour is having, identifying risk factors to guide decisions and appropriate responses.

The updated draft policy also aims to make the process clearer for residents, providing better information on the steps they can take and what to expect when they report ASB.

City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for Digital and Community, Councillor Obaida Ahmed, said: “We know that anti-social behaviour can cause a great deal of distress, and that's why we’re committed to working with the public and other organisations across Wolverhampton to investigate and resolve issues as soon as possible.

“This survey will help us better understand the needs of the community in tackling ASB and I would urge residents and anyone who works in Wolverhampton to have their say and help Wolverhampton Homes put in place a robust policy that has a major impact in reducing incidents of ASB in our city.”

People living and working in Wolverhampton are encouraged to share their views on the draft policy. The survey, and link to the draft policy, can be found on at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HPFPS3M.

The consultation period will run until Friday 09 May.
